Red Hill Special School is a co-educational state school facility providing excellence in education in a friendly and supportive environment. Our school was opened in 1985 to provide educational programs to students with disabilities, particularly students with multiple impairments. Red Hill School Campus supports school-age students with high support needs, and very young children with developmental challenges. The student population is drawn from across the central, north and west sides of Brisbane.
We provide educational programs for students between prep and school leaving age who may have significant delays or impairments in the area of physical, sensory and intellectual functioning. In addition, a number of our students are diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Our specialisation in educational provision is to provide programs for children and young people with multiple disabilities or with a single impairment diagnosis coupled with complex and challenging health support needs.
Our two campuses comprise of: Waterworks Road- where we facilitate the
Early Childhood Developmental Program (ECDP) and the Junior school, which is structured around our Early Years and Middle Year education. Our Senior Campus, located on Fulcher Rd includes Junior Secondary and Senior School phases of learning.
The
Early Childhood Developmental Program caters for children from birth to pre-prep age with a disability or suspected disability. An integral part of the Early Childhood Development Program is the shared Prep programs.
All of the school-aged students attending Red Hill Special School have multiple impairments and have educational support needs in the area of intellectual impairment. While many students have limited mobility, there is a broad range of both physical and cognitive abilities amongst the students.
