The
school has an indoor Heated Hydrotherapy Pool. The
water and surrounding air temperatures are controlled to ensure as little
discomfort as possible to the students. The swimming program combines both
therapeutic and recreational aspects within individual student programs and
provides opportunities for students to achieve and learn new skills in the
water environment which may not be possible on land. Within the hydrotherapy
program students may work on increasing their cardiovascular fitness, increasing
endurance, improving balance and co-ordination, and working on patterns of
movement that can be transferred to land based movement.
Trained
AustSwim instructors oversee the swimming programs. The swimming programs
emphasise water safety and support students to develop their confidence within
the pool. For some students the swimming program will provide them with
opportunities to develop breath control and demonstrate basic stroke
acquisition. The school acknowledges that some children
may have special conditions they need met in order to engage in these water
activities. Please notify the school should such problems occur.
