The formal school day at Red Hill Special
School commences at 8:45 am. No child is to be left at the school prior to
8:30am to ensure adequate supervision is available for their safety. Upon
arrival, children are received by a staff member at the transport area. They
then proceed as independently as possible to their classroom.
The day is broken into
3 sessions with the sessions separated by Morning Tea and Lunch. Each class has
a weekly timetable that incorporates class, individual and group activities.
Each student receives a copy of their timetable in a format that is
meaningful for them. The day finishes at 2.45 pm and we ask that all children
are collected by 3.00pm, again to ensure their safety.
Children attend the
Early Childhood Development Program on a sessional basis. Children aged 0 – 3+
years attend 1 morning session per week and, as they get older, session times
may increase. Upon enrolment, the Deputy Principal responsible for the ECDP
will outline the daily routine for your child.
For the safety of your
child, and all other children attending our school, we ask that you observe the
signs related to parking and drop-offs/pick-ups. If you and your child arrive at school after 9:00am or are leaving school before 2:30pm then you are both required to sign in or out at the school reception desk. So that classes are not interrupted a staff member will either take your child to their classroom or bring them from the classroom to reception.
