Curriculum

Curriculum refers to everything a school does to support student learning including what is taught, and the knowledge and skills acquired by students. Across Queensland, each school develops its own curriculum framework which gives details of the what, when and how of the teaching and learning process across the different years and phases of schooling. At Red Hill Special School our specialisation in education provision is to provide programs for children and students with multiple disabilities or with a single impairment diagnosis coupled with complex and challenging behaviour and/or health support needs. Our curriculum framework is based on the best practice principles for the highly individualised education of a multi-sensory learner. This framework allows our teachers to plan and report using quantitative data which addresses local concerns around age appropriate instruction for students with high and complex support needs.
 
Our curriculum framework addresses the learning needs of all students at this school by providing learning experiences relevant to individual contexts whilst valuing and responding to preferred learning and communication styles. At Red Hill Special School we value and provide a Multi-Sensory Approach to curriculum delivery.
